Evolve, Sportsmans Pride, and Triumph Dog Food Recall

On November 27, 2018, Sunshine Mills, Inc. advised that they are commencing a voluntary recall multiple brands of dog food from Evolve, Sportsmans Pride, and Triumph due to excessive levels of vitamin D.

This recall has been completed, and FDA has terminated this recall.

There have been no linked cases of illness associated with this recall to date.

The above products have been sold and distributed in the United States in addition to:

  • Canada
  • Columbia
  • Japan
  • Israel
  • South Korea
  • Puerto Rico

The recall is being conducted with the U.S Food and Drug Administration.

Elevated Vitamin D

Dogs that digested large amounts of vitamin D may demonstrate loss of appetite, excessive drooling, weight loss, vomiting, increased thirst, and increased urine.

If left untreated, dogs can develop serious health conditions such as renal failure.

Pet owners who believe their dog has consumed too much vitamin D should consult their veterinarian immediately.

What Do I Do Now?

Pet owners should stop feeding their dogs the above-mentioned products.

Consumers who have identified they have an affected product are asked to either dispose of it or return it to the original place of purchase for a refund or replacement.
